Most people think of “law” as a chrome-plated world dictated by big egos and political correctness. I was drawn to a more practical world of law – one where hard working, law abiding citizens have nothing to fear. I would soon learn that those are precisely the people who need legal protection the most.
I grew up working on my family’s ranch outside of Sacramento. I was initiated into the world of law as a 16 year old Cadet at the Sutter County Sheriffs Department, and later went on to study criminal justice in college. After law school, I returned to Sutter County as a Deputy District Attorney.
It was baptism by fire. Over the next few years, my skill and confidence were steeled by handling over a thousand cases in court. Looking back, I see how my experience on the family ranch and at the sheriff department grounded and groomed me to build a reputation as a hard working lawyer with high professional and moral standards.
The point at which I realized my mission as an attorney came during my time as in-house counsel at Farmer’s Insurance. Suddenly, I saw that even law abiding citizens did not always have the law on their side. Every day, I defended hard-working people who were suddenly at risk of losing everything.
It is a painful thing to see people who share my work ethic and personal standards, yet have no idea that their wealth and family are completely vulnerable. That’s why I focus my experience on the two specialties where I’ve seen good people lose everything for lack of legal guidance – personal injury and asset protection. And now, I have the pleasure of hosting our syndicated radio show, The Wealth & Family Show, where I talk all about building and protecting your wealth and family.
When I’m not in court or at the office, I enjoy camping, hiking, hunting, fishing, cycling, and shooting archery with my beautiful wife, Ashley and our two amazing boys, Brian Jay and Easton.
Ashley B. Meyer, ESQ.
Ashley Meyer is a “doer” who works with families and business owners who are looking to “get things done” and achieve peace of mind about the handling of their estate. A native of Sacramento, she shares Meyer Law Offices with her husband Eric, a stone’s throw from the State Capitol. When she isn’t at the office, Ashley is most likely encouraging a group of business owners or snuggling both her boys. Sometimes simultaneously.

Sacramento is my home town. From the beginning, my career has been about finding my place in the beautiful machine that is our community.
As a student at UC Davis I was blessed with the opportunity to study abroad in Spain and Austria, but I always knew that I would return and raise my family here in Sacramento. Following an internship in Washington DC, and serving as a Governor’s Appointee in the State Capitol, I left politics to pursue a life of Law.
Along the way, I had incredible experiences working behind the scenes of some very dynamic organizations, including former Governor Schwarzenegger’s administration and a large PR firm that supported women’s interests. I learned a lot about what makes a system run well, and leveraged that experience to open a consulting business helping people get organized and efficient, which I ultimately grew and sold.
As a mom of two boys and the owner of multiple businesses, I know how the chaos of daily life can rob us from enjoying the moments that make life beautiful.
My professional journey has been fueled by a passion for creating order out of chaos, and doing it in the simplest way possible. That’s what estate planning is all about, putting everything in order. The most rewarding part of my job is shaking someone’s hand after the last paper is signed, and knowing that they have eliminated all the legal tangles from their affairs so that their family can have peace.
Although I’ve since sold the consulting business, I still spend a lot of time creating resources for business owners like myself so that we can all achieve more efficiency and spend more time doing the things that matter to us the most.
When I’m not in the office, you can find me with my feet up around a campfire, snuggling my boys, clinking wine glasses in celebration, motivating other “mompreneurs” through my national organization Mommies Hiring Mommies, and adventuring outdoors with my loving husband, Eric, and our fiery red-headed sons, Brian Jay and Easton.
